Signalprozessortechnik

Instructor:

Lecture topics

Digital signal processing as well as architecture and programming of digital signal processors (Analog Devices, Freescale, Texas Instruments, Atmel, Cirrus Logic etc.) with an emphasis on consumer and professional audio applications.

Aims and Objectives

After having successfully attended the module “Signal Processor Techniques” students will be familiar with the architecture of digital signal processors (DSPs), which are primarily used for consumer and professional audio applications.
They will know special interfaces which connect Audio converter components (CODECs) with DSPs and will be having a deeper understanding of the influence of number format, type of calculation units, memory handling, parallel operations as well as optimised programming and address generation on the efficient real time processing (e.g. biquad filter, digital reverb and Fast Fourier Transformation) of audio samples.
Students will be having a good theoretical basis for the practical realization of audio programming in the module “Digital Audio Engineering Lab”.
