The SPSC has a job opening for a student project assistant (20h) until the end of 2022.

For infrastructure monitoring, we use communication glas fiber as an acoustic sensor that provides us with over 1000 virtual channels along a cable of up to 40 km. In order to detect possibly dangerous events, we need to classify the data that is recorded. Most data will be not interesting activity, since dangerous events are rare. The aim of this project/thesis is to work on a framework that allows to detect anomalous events in those audio channels in real-time with a latency of around one minute.

Your profile:

  • TU Graz master student of information and computer engineering, sound engineering or similar.
  • Background in Signal Processing and Machine Learning
  • Software development background for computationally efficiently processing
  • Knowledge of Julia will be a plus
  • Ideally you combine the work with a Master’s thesis

What we offer:

  • Participation in an exciting research project
  • Work in an international setting
  • Gross salary per month: at least 1100 EUR (based on 20h/week) according to the university collective agreement
  • Flexible working hours
