The “1st Symposium on Dependable Internet of Things in Adverse Environments 2017” aims at discussing methods and tools to predict, guarantee, and ultimately raise the level of dependability of the IoT, where dependability summarizes all attributes of a system that allow a user to put trust into and rely on the system. Adverse environments pose the IoT with a range of physical and man-made treats, including harsh environmental conditions (for example, unpredictable wireless signal propagation and strong interference from other wireless transmitters), physical and remote attacks, and the inherent complexity of a system of systems.

The “1st DependableThings Symposium 2017” is a single-day event organized by the LEAD Project “Dependable Internet of Things in Adverse Environments”, which has been funded through an excellence initiative sponsored by TU Graz to foster excellent research areas of strategic importance. The symposium will comprise invited keynote presentations and scientific presentations, posters, and demonstrators by project members and associated researchers.
