Abstract

Acoustic absorbers and acoustic diffusers are the most important components in the discipline of room acoustics. Although there is a big field of applications and there are a lot of different types and designs of diffusers they are less important in literature and even in practice then absorbers are. Just a few companies do plan and produce acoustic diffusers and even technical literature does hardly offer any useful overview about this topic while there a numberless books and papers about acoustic absorbers. So this work should give an overview about the theory and function, the different types with their design possibilities and the practical applications of acoustic diffusers.
