Abstract

This work deals with the fabrication, analysis, and modelling of “Alginate”, an irreversibly hardening elastic moldable material which is found in brown algae cell walls. In an interdisciplinary project connecting architecture, chemistry, and acoustics, the properties of Alginate are explored for the use as fassades, acoustic absorbers, or insulation.
