Abstract

One part of the present thesis is the description of the theory of perforation plates and Helmholtzresonators. The other part contains a tool programmed in Matlab with which it is possible to calculate the characteristic curve of the absorption coefficient and other parameters. In some examples or rather simulations the influence of the geometric dimensions (e.g. diameter and distance of the holes, thickness of the plate and distance to the wall) on the acoustical characteristics and on the curve of the absorption coefficient is shown. The last part contains a trial of finding the dimensions for a perforation plate that should attenuate the problematic modes in the reverberation chamber of the laboratory for building physics on the University of Technology in Graz.
