Abstract:

Although the reverberation time is a well-known concept in room acoustics, the sound field in an elongated hall including coupled spaces turns out to be rather complex. In such a case the reverbeartion time cannot be predicted with convential formulas like Sabine or Eyring’s equation due the lack of a diffuse sound field. This work investigates the sound field in an elongated hall by estimating the reverberation time with alternative reverberation formulae, a room acoustic simulation, and comparse the results to already existing measurements in the hall of Inffeldgasse 16c.
