We congratulate Benedikt Mayrhofer, who received the Award for Socially Relevant Theses from the Forum Technik und Gesellschaft at TU Graz for his Master’s thesis “From Silence to Sound”.

In his Master’s thesis Benedikt explored state-of-the-art AI voice conversion models to improve the quality of pathological and electrolaryngeal speech. His work demonstrates how speech models can significantly enhance naturalness, intelligibility, and speaker identity, paving the way for more effective, personalized voice rehabilitation tools. The thesis laid the groundwork for his part in an ongoing FWF research project on AI speech enhancement.
