Research Areas

The aim of this project is to investigate possible algorithms for the visualization of meta information of .wav files (e.g. frequency content, loudness metering) on top of the time domain waveform. The goal to allow users browsing the waveform to gain more information about the signal content on first sight. As a first step, appropriate mappings of meta-information to color will be investigated taking possible impact from visual aliasing effects into consideration. Subsequent, prototyping, implementation, and evaluation sessions will be performed.

Skills: Design and evaluation, C/C++, audio signal processing.

Learning outcomes: real-time audio processing implementation of basic/advanced audio algorithms design, prototyping, evaluation.
