Abstract

The aim of this work at the Fraunhofer IIS was to implement some postprocessing tools (compressor/expander,
transient designer, headphone-equalization, stereo enhancement) in an existing Winamp-Plugin,
which enables the listener to get a binauaral hearing impression when listening via headphones by filtering
the stereo music signal with HRTFs and reverberation processing. To enlarge the scope for design
the above mentioned tools had to be implemented in C and merged to the existing Plugin. To assure an
easy handling a GUI was designed and was also implemented in C. This work now gives an overview of
the fundamental functionalities of the processing tools, a description of how the algorithms were implemented,
an explanation of the implemented GUI and a discussion about the results.
