Abstract

The acoustic optimisation of a room is crucial for the recording and reproduction of music. Without adapting and optimising the room’s behaviour to the respective purpose, a high-quality recording is not possible. Two characteristics of the room must be given special attention. First, the reverberation time of the room must be reduced to the desired level in all frequency ranges. Secondly, the room’s eigenmodes must be recognised and damped or refracted. In this work, special attention is paid to designing a suitable acoustic image of the room. This is done by measuring and simulating the empty room. With the help of this design, it is possible to competently estimate the extent of the acoustical treatment.

Kurzfassung

Die akustische Optimierung eines Raumes ist für die Aufnahme und Wiedergabe von Musik von entscheidender Bedeutung. Ohne Anpassung und Optimierung des Raumverhaltens an den jeweiligen Verwendungszweck ist eine qualitativ hochwertige Aufnahme nicht möglich. Zwei Eigenschaften des Raumes sind dabei besonders zu beachten. Zum einen muss die Nachhallzeit des Raumes in allen Frequenzbereichen auf das gewünschte Maß reduziert werden. Zum anderen müssen die Eigenmoden des Raumes erkannt und gedämpft bzw. gebrochen werden. Besonderes Augenmerk wird in dieser Arbeit darauf gelegt, ein geeignetes akustisches Abbild des Raumes zu entwerfen. Dies geschieht durch Messung und Simulation des leeren Raumes. Mit Hilfe dieses Entwurfs ist es möglich, den Umfang des Ausbaus kompetent abzuschätzen.
